About me:
With a background in education and embodied practices, I understand the pressures educators face and how stress shows up in the body. With over 16 years’ experience in Further and Higher Education, I bring a dual perspective as both an academic Lecturer, and a trained yoga and meditation practitioner.
My sessions combine teaching expertise with somatic approaches to support real, practical nervous system regulation, with results.
My work is grounded in an understanding of the growing body of research highlighting the impact of chronic stress and burnout faced by many Teachers. Increasing workloads alongside a decrease in funding, hugely impacts staff wellbeing, performance, and retention.
Having worked as a Course Leader and Lecturer in Further Education, and now within Higher Education, I have first-hand insight into these challenges. I have taught internationally and across diverse institutions, and I remain actively engaged in academic practice in the UK.
Evidence-Informed Approach
My approach integrates evidence-based wellbeing practices drawn from research in psychology, neuroscience, and somatic studies.
Research in these areas demonstrates measurable benefits of yoga, mindfulness, breath work and meditation in reduced stress levels, improved emotional regulation, enhanced cognitive function, and increased resilience. All key factors in sustaining performance and wellbeing in academic environments.
Professional Experience & Delivery
All sessions are designed to be practical, inclusive, and adaptable, ensuring accessibility for participants regardless of prior experience.
I also facilitate Yoga and Meditation retreats, and seasonal wellbeing events across the UK, and have experience delivering sessions to both staff and student groups in a variety of settings.
Rationale for Wellbeing in Education
Supporting staff wellbeing is increasingly recognised as essential to institutional effectiveness. Research indicates that staff wellbeing is directly linked to:
Teaching quality and student outcomes
Staff engagement and retention
Reduced absence and increased retention
A more positive organisational culture
By embedding accessible wellbeing practices into the workplace, institutions can support staff in managing stress more effectively while fostering a healthier, more sustainable working environment.
